Companion Care

The companion caregivers work each day with our senior clients to provide necessary support in many wonderful ways. The many tasks that are so easily taken for granted can become a chore for our elders. Every task that comes with rising each day to getting ready for bed each evening, our caring and compassionate caregivers can be there every step of the way. Routine tasks such as medication reminders, meal preparation, laundry and light housekeeping, gentle reminders to keep up with personal hygiene etc. are a few of the many activities a caregiver can be there to assist with.

In addition to assistance with physical activity, a caregiver will be there to engage in conversation, play a board game, crossword puzzle or any other activity to stimulate and engage our clients mentally. We stress cognitive engagement to be one of our highest concerns as it is so important for the aging mind.

Some of the tasks our caregivers can assist with that are often not taken to account are activities such as doctor appointments, social outings, running errands, going for walks or exercise. Our goal is to engage and encourage our seniors to be ready for a positive and productive day. It is our goal to provide a happy and healthy environment for our cherished senior to live comfortably in their home environment we know and love. We do all of this and more always with loving care and as our name suggest “A Gentle Touch” as truly your satisfaction is our highest priority.

        Home Health Aides

Home Health Aides help people who are disabled, chronically ill, cognitively impaired, and older adults, who may need assistance, to live in their own homes or in residential facilities (i.e., Assisted Living Facilities) instead of in health facilities or institutions. They also assist people in hospices and day programs and help individuals with disabilities go to work and remain engaged in their communities. Aides work with elderly, physically, and mentally disabled clients who need more care than family or friends can provide. Additionally, aides help patients who are discharged from the hospital and have relatively short-term needs.

Aides provide light housekeeping and homemaking tasks such as laundry, change bed linens, shop for food, and plan and prepare meals. Aides also may help clients get out of bed, bathe, dress, groom, and may also accompany clients to doctors’ appointments or on other errands.

Home health aides may provide some basic health related services, such as checking patients’ pulse rate, temperature, and respiration rate. They also may help with simple prescribed exercises, assist only self-directing patients with medications administration, change simple dressings, provide skin care, or assist with braces and artificial limbs.
